 "color the sea"

Maine was a bottomless lake, so deep the little legs and arms paddled ferociously so they didn’t fall victim to the creatures that lived in the oblivion below them.

Hawaii was clearer. His water ebbed and flowed softly alongside the lava path while he
whispered secrets of the sea to the rocks he soothed, and he encouraged the sand to move in his wake. His water glowed relentlessly with magnificent vibrancy, burning the eyes of those who looked directly at him, and the glitter that lulled on his surface.

Mexico was rich. Her water was an ivory blue that cleared a bold path. She was forceful and certain, not like the purring waters of Hawaii. Striking fire with the matchsticks that had become her fingers, she was confident and abundant with a deep voice and powerful words. Her water was thick like syrup and honey, and she carried the weight of the sun.
